What is the difference between web design and web development?
Design is what the site looks like and how somebody moves through it. Development is what it can do: booking, payments, logins, integrations, anything with logic behind it. Most projects need both, and here they are done by the same person, so nothing gets lost between them.
Can you build a custom booking or quoting system?
Yes, and it is one of the most common requests. The important part is scoping it to how you actually book work now, rather than making you change your process to suit some software.
Can you connect the website to software we already use?
Usually, depending on whether it offers an API. Bring the list of what you run on the first call and you get a straight answer about what will connect cleanly and what will not.
Why not just use a plugin?
For simple things, use the plugin. For anything holding up how you get paid or booked, a plugin is somebody else's code that can be abandoned, start charging, or break on an update. Custom costs more once and less every year after.
Will I be locked into you afterwards?
No. Standard tools, clean code and documentation, so another developer can pick it up. That is worth asking of anyone before they start, because plenty of shops rely on you not being able to leave.
